November 5, 2005
StarMedia has officially launched its new online look. In a move which signals the importance of providing online users and advertisers with the most effective means of featuring relevant content as well as unique ad placement, the portal has undertaken numerous changes throughout the site.
Additional features include a redesign of several areas as well as a faster download for users and the integration of all rich media formats, allowing advertisers a variety of possibilities and new creative approaches to deliver their message to StarMedia’s users.
“StarMedia has sought to strengthen its brand by developing the relevance of its content beyond the already impressive array it provides via Wanadoo. Our users have responded with many enthusiastic comments about the value and relevance they find in the new content as well as the many new images we’ve incorporated”, noted Juan José Nuñez, StarMedia’s vice president of operations.
As a part of the StarMedia’s portal redesign, four primary areas have been recently enhanced; namely, “Notícias” (News), “Mujer” (Women), “Entretenimiento” (Entertainment) and “Horóscopo” (Horoscope). The new “Deportes” (Sports) area of the portal was also debuted recently, and features comprehensive headlines, highlights, scoreboards and statistics.
Alejandro Rodríguez, StarMedia’s vice president of sales, stated that “an important new feature of the portal redesign is the ability for advertising clients and strategic partners to reach users ‘beyond the banner’, through the placement of content integration opportunities in high-visibility positions, without compromise to the balance of the content versus advertisement equation.”
“First and foremost, the new design has definitely helped to break through the typical clutter one sees online, allowing for far superior ad placement,” noted Media 8 Co-CEO & Co-Founder John Santiago. “The new StarMedia streamline look allows users easier access to relevant content as well as advertisers to enjoy a more prominent placement within the user experience”, added Santiago.
