Sternberg Assumes Oversight Of Fox Sports World Español.

David Sternberg, formerly Vice President and General Manager of Fox Sports International, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Network Operations and Business Development and General Manager of the Fox Sports World and Fox Sports World Español U.S. sports networks.

Sternberg also assumes immediate day-to-day management of Fox Cable Networks Group’s interests in the new Fox Pan American Sports venture announced last month. That venture, which combines top North, Central and South American Spanish-language sports programming and distribution resources of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, Liberty Media and Fox Sports International, promises international sports enthusiasts and marketers in the U.S. greater access to top programming than ever before. Bob Thompson, president of Fox Sports Cable Networks and Fox Sports International, to whom he will report, announced Mr. Sternberg’s promotion.

In assuming the new post, Mr. Sternberg gains operational oversight for Fox Sports World and Fox Sports World Español, which already rank among cable television’s fastest-growing sports networks, adding 104 percent and 53 percent to their respective subscriber bases in the past year and a half alone. Fox Sports World Español, now part of the Fox Pan American Sports venture, is currently seen in 4.7 million homes and available to more than 40 percent of the U.S. Hispanic audience. The channel is coming off its inaugural season of telecasting Major League Baseball’s World Series and playoffs. That marquee programming proved especially successful with Spanish-language audiences and marketers during this past baseball season, and Fox Sports World Espanol holds the same rights to the Fall Classic and MLB playoffs for the coming
fall.
