Stopping Burnout

In 2021, Kelly Hopping was CMO at a tech startup when she realized she was burnt out. “I was just exhausted and didn’t enjoy marketing anymore,” she says. “I was annoyed by every part of corporate marketing and navigating the bureaucracy of corporate America.” She resigned and took six months off to try to reconnect with her work, including talking with her peers in marketing about their jobs. “I did a lot of soul-searching, just to figure out who I wanted to be and what inspired me and what got me excited,” she says. “It gave me a chance not only to recharge but to also reset on what I wanted to do when I came back.”
