Students Read To Win Seats @ Univision’s “Premios Juventud” Awards.

Univision’s “Premios Juventud” (Youth Awards) honors the biggest names in Latin entertainment, fashion and sports. The event will be held at the University of Miami’s Convocation Center on Thursday, September 22 and this year, 400 Miami-Dade County Public High School Spanish-language students will get the opportunity to watch the show live by participating in a reading contest.

One of the goals of “Premios Juventud” is to encourage Hispanic youth to not only finish high school, but to pursue higher education. Since developing good reading skills is one of the keys to a successful education, Univision 23 is sponsoring the read-a-thon to encourage students to read in Spanish.

Participants will aim to read as many books as they can, and the classrooms that read the most books will get the chance to attend the awards show and see all of the action live from the fan-pit area. Miami-Dade County Public School students are encouraged to ask their Spanish teachers for details. The contest ends September 8, 2005.
