SuperLatina Talk-Show nominated for GLAAD Media Award.

SuperLatina was nominated in the category “Outstanding Daytime Talk Show Episode” by GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

The syndicated show, which airs in Texas and New Mexico through Telemundo, will go up against national shows such as “Caso Cerrado” (Telemundo), “¿Quién Tiene la Razón?” (Univision) and “Paparazzi TV Sensacional” (Mega TV)

“I have always believed that we as Latinos have the moral obligation to support other minorities in our pursuit of equality”, says Gaby Natale, the talk show’s host. Gaby confesses that this nomination is not only a great honor but also a chance to share an award ceremony with colleagues she admires such as Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks and Ellen DeGeneres, all of whom are nominated in the same category for their English language entries.
   
“This is another proof that the American dream is alive and well for all of us immigrants”, says Andres O. Suarez, the executive producer of SuperLatina. “We started operations in 2007, and two weeks ago SuperLatina aired its 100th episode. I never imagined that we would be competing so soon with some of the most important media companies and shows in the world”, he added.
   
With its message of empowerment, dreams-come-true segments and cutting edge topics, SuperLatina is rapidly establishing itself as the new generation of Spanish-language talk-shows.
   
“Gay and Latina: Stories from a Minority Within a Minority”, the episode that was nominated to the 2010 GLAAD Media Awards, includes testimonials of teenagers who were harassed at school because of their sexual identity, the story of traditional Latino parents who are fully supportive of their gay son, and the story of a man who is an accountant by day and turns to drag every night.
