Superstar Edith Gonzalez Returns To Univision In ‘Mujer de Madera’.
May 8, 2004
One of Spanish-language television’s most popular leading actresses, Edith González, stars in the highly anticipated Televisa produced novela “Mujer de Madera” (“Woman of Wood”), debuting on the Univision Network on Monday, June 7 at 7 pm (6 pm Central).
Emilio Larrosa, producer of hit novelas “Amigas y Rivales” and “Las Vías del Amor,” brings Hispanic TV viewers this original youth appeal drama series. Set in Mexico’s lush woodlands, this unique production highlights the significance of environmental issues such as deforestation, global warming and tree conservation.
A consistently high ratings draw, González also starred in “Corazón Salvaje” (“Wild Heart”) and “Salomé,” primetime novelas that were among the top 3 rated novelas of their respective seasons and time periods. Her blockbuster performance in “Salomé” resulted in an average daily audience of nearly 4 million Hispanics while achieving viewership levels of more than 4 times the size of its nearest competitor. *
Storyline: Marisa (González) is distraught after being left at the altar – she becomes embittered, and emotionally inflexible: a woman made of wood.
One day at the family ranch, Marisa and her sister Aída (Paleta) meet Carlos (Soto), the cook’s handsome son. Aída falls for him, but Carlos is attracted to Marisa. This angers Efraín (Carlos Cámara Jr.), the ranch’s foreman, who wants to marry Marisa to gain control of the property.
In an attempt to protect her sister from the heartaches love can bring, Marisa makes a play for Carlos. Little does she know that he will be the man who re-ignites the ashes of her “wooden heart”…and help her rediscover the joy of true love.
“Mujer de Madera” can be seen weekdays from 7-8 pm (6-7 pm Central) only on Univision, the leading Spanish-language television network.
