Tamayo named VP of On-Air Promotions.

Telemundo Media announced it named Diego Tamayo to Vice President, On-Air Promotions, effective immediately. Tamayo will report to Susan Solano Vila, Executive Vice President, Marketing and will be based in Miami.

Tamayo will lead Telemundo’s creative team in producing relevant and effective on-air promotional campaigns. He will oversee the development and creation of concepts and scripts, as well as the production and post-production for all on-air promotions, stunts, launch campaigns, image spots, network branding and other creative services projects. Tamayo also will be responsible for maintaining consistent brand identity across all on-air projects.

“Telemundo has set the industry standard for reaching and connecting with the U.S. Hispanic audience through innovative marketing creatives and campaigns that support our unique original productions,” said Solano Vila. “Diego’s impressive industry track record of conceptualizing and executing some of the best promotional campaigns in Spanish-language television will serve as a great addition to our marketing team as we continue to promote the Telemundo Media brand and all of our programming properties.”

Most recently Tamayo was Director of the Promotion Department at Telefutura since 2011. Prior to Telefutura, Tamayo had returned to his native Colombia, where he oversaw Marketing and Promotions for Caracol Television from 2006 to 2011. In 2001, Tamayo joined Telemundo as Senior Promotions Producer. In that role, he developed promotional strategies to create brand awareness and drive tune-in to the network’s programming. He later became Vice President, Programming, overseeing novela promotion and cross promotion. From 1996-2000, Tamayo worked at Cenpro as Director of Advertising. Prior to his post at Cenpro, he served as an advertising consultant to Canal Uno and Canal A. From 1992-1996, he served as Director of Radio and Television at Caracol Radio and TV House Agency.
