Tejano Music Awards.

Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA) founders and organizers of the Tejano Music Awards announced plans for the upcoming XXIII annual Awards show and schedule of events. The annual Awards show will recognize and honor Tejano music artists for their achievements over the past year and will be held Saturday, April 5, 2003 in San Antonio; long known as The Tejano Music Capital of the World at the SBC Complex – Freeman Coliseum.

Tejano music is widely known for its’ deeply rooted, infused and spiced mixtures of Mexican conjunto, German Polka and Texas rockabilly sounds. The music genre continues to develop a loyal and multi-generation fan following that spans from the mid-west, California, Southwest and internationally. “This Awards show is the only forum by which Tejano music artists are truly recognized.” Stated Robert Arellano, TTMA Board President. “Our Tejano music fans come from all over the United States year after year to support them. Tejano music is a Texas tradition that continues to thrive strongly; with a fan base that just keeps growing.”

Hosting this year’s Awards show will be award winning actor, producer and director, Tony Plana, star of ShowTime’s landmark and groundbreaking series Resurrection Boulevard and the star of numerous feature films. He’ll be joined by talented comedian and actor, Rudy Moreno; previously voted Latino Comedian of the Year. Mr. Moreno appeared most recently in ShowTime’s new drama series, King Pin.
