TeleFutura En Vivo y Directo.

The TeleFutura Network announced that its highly anticipated weeknight primetime news and information program “TeleFutura En Vivo y Directo” (TeleFutura Live and Direct) will make its nationwide debut on Monday, October 17th at 7pmET/6pmCT.

A first for Spanish-language television, “TeleFutura En Vivo y Directo” will offer primetime Hispanic viewers the latest national and international news along with a wide range of information and entertainment stories live from TeleFutura’s state-of-the-art studios. The program will be anchored by noted journalists Carmen Dominicci and Rolando Nichols, and will utilize a vast, worldwide network of newsgathering resources.

Born in Puerto Rico, Carmen Dominicci has had a distinguished career in broadcast journalism. Most recently she served as co-anchor of the Univision Network’s weekend news-magazine program, “Primer Impacto Fin de Semana” (“First Impact Weekend Edition). During her years in television news, she has received several awards, including three regional Emmys for Outstanding Single Newscast/Anchor. In 1999 Dominicci won a N.Y. ACE Award for best anchor, and was selected by New York’s Diario La Prensa as one of the year’s 50 most influential Hispanic women.

“I couldn’t be more excited about taking this new step in my career,” remarked Dominicci about her newest assignment. “U.S. Hispanic viewers are well known to be avid consumers of news, from both here and abroad. This program will provide them an important new source for that vital information.”

Originally from Mexico, Rolando Nichols is a graduate of The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Before becoming a co-anchor on “TeleFutura En Vivo y Directo,” Nichols was a news anchor on the nation’s #1 Spanish-language station, Univision’s KMEX-34 in Los Angeles, during which time he received a regional Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Before coming to Los Angeles in 2000, he was the main anchor at Univision affiliate KTTV-33 in Phoenix, Arizona since 1997.

“I am extremely proud to be part of this new project,” said Nichols. “TeleFutura has assembled an extraordinary team of news professionals and I look forward to joining them in bringing our viewers not just the news, but the news and information that is of special interest to Hispanic America.”

Regarding the program’s two anchors, TeleFutura Senior Vice President and Operating Manager Bert Medina said, “We’re thrilled to have two journalists of the professional caliber and experience of Carmen and Rolando join the TeleFutura Network family. We’re confident that with their collaboration, ‘TeleFutura En Vivo y Directo’ will earn a reputation as one of the premier news and information programs in the nation.”

“TeleFutura En Vivo y Directo” (TeleFutura Live and Direct) premieres Monday, October 17th at 7pmET/6pmCT on the TeleFutura Network.
