TELEMUNDO 2008-2009.

On the heels of its successful client development meetings and the recent content agreement with Televisa for Mexico, Telemundo Communications Group, a leading producer of high-quality content for Hispanics in the U.S. and audiences around the world, revealed today its 2008-2009 original programming season at a press conference held at the Radio City Suite of the Rainbow Room in New York City. The new programming announcement was made by Don Browne, President, Telemundo; Jacqueline Hernandez, Chief Operating Officer, Telemundo; Mike Rodriguez, Senior Vice President, Network Sales and Marketing, Telemundo; Carlos Bardasano, Executive Vice President of Entertainment, Telemundo; and Flavio Morales, Vice President of Programming, mun2.

“Telemundo has come of age as a content company and has become one of the most respected producers in the world. Our partnerships with Televisa and TV Globo are a great affirmation of the success of our original content business model,” said Browne. “Our business model is in perfect harmony with where the media business is going today and continues to deliver an exceptional value proposition to clients who are looking for the best return on their investment.”

Concept Integration

Leveraging its unique combination of media assets, Telemundo introduced its concentrated client-focused strategy centered on connecting the advertiser to the consumer through a holistic approach across all platforms and all ages. The network announced it will create custom marketing and advertising solutions for its partners and clients, providing them with programs to maximize their return on investment. Given its original content business model, Telemundo is in a unique position to develop custom solutions and offer its partners the flexibility necessary for their planning and strategic needs.

Telemundo’s client-centric strategy will be anchored by deep insight and understanding of the consumer through its long-standing commitment to research. The network recently unveiled the new Pulse Research Center at Universal City Walk in Los Angeles and the network becoming the first Spanish-language network to subscribe to IAG Research.

Today, Telemundo also presented its new Concept Integration Model that will explore ways to integrate its clients brands into its programming across all its platforms (Broadcast, Cable and Digital), allowing the advertiser/partner to be an integral component of the programming process from the planning and conceptual stages, all the way through air.

“At the core of this year’s Upfront strategy is our ‘Concept Integration’ model, where the advertiser and partner take center stage and play a key role in the original programming process. This progressive strategy allows us to leverage our multi-platform capabilities, offering our clients creative and customized advertising and marketing solutions that Telemundo is uniquely positioned to provide as a result of owning and producing our own content,” said Hernandez.

Added Rodriguez, “As the only Spanish-language network to air four consecutive hours of original content in Primetime Monday through Friday, Telemundo is in the best position to offer our clients more value for their investment, making us the best destination for concept/product integration and innovative branded entertainment solutions.”

Digital Media

Telemundo Digital Media is evolving to best capitalize on its Original Programming Strategy focused on maximizing its audience and marketing partnerships with innovative digital experiences and solutions. With the network’s Primetime programming fully streamed on its site, as well as its first-aired incremental content and interactive novela segments, Telemundo Digital Media will present User Generated Content Experiences for all of its Original Programs. The division will also continue to expand its Custom Broadband Studios to offer marketers “made for broadband custom vignettes” in both Spanish and English. Recognizing marketers increased focus on 2nd/3rd generational Latinos, mun2 will re-launch its award winning site, HolaMun2.com. The new site will invite audience and marketers into a unique social networking experience that highlights Hispanic Youth today.

Telemundo/TV Globo Co-Production

Telemundo also announced it has signed an agreement with TV Globo to co-produce the hit novela “El Clon” for the U.S. Hispanic market in Spanish. The agreement is the beginning of a new partnership between the two leading global content providers. The novela will be produced by Telemundo Studios in Colombia and TV Globo will provide the original format, as well as the expertise of the creative and production team that participated in the original novela, including the screenwriter Glória Perez and the director Jayme Monjardim. “El Clon” was previously aired by Telemundo in 2002 and it was a tremendous ratings success making it the strongest 10pm property ever on Telemundo; it was also a huge international success selling in more than 90 countries. Under the agreement, Telemundo will have exclusive broadcast rights for the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and both companies will market the new production through their international sales teams around the world.

“This new deal with TV Globo further affirms the caliber of Telemundo’s original productions, once again setting the industry standards for the best in Spanish-language television,” said Bardasano. “Our 2008-2009 season will feature an exciting programming pipeline of first-run, high-quality productions that continue to strongly resonate with our Spanish-language audience.”

Mujer de Hoy…Hazte Valer

In addition, as part of its mission to inform, empower, inspire and entertain U.S. Hispanics, Telemundo has launched Mujer de Hoy…Hazte Valer!, a multiplatform pro-social campaign focused on critical issues that affect young Latinas. The network has partnered with two pro-social organizations, MANA and Hollywood, Health and Society, to host a conversation and provide the information they need to make informed decisions, potentially saving the lives of many young Latinas who otherwise may not have access to reliable information or the opportunity to talk about these issues. The campaign provides useful information and resources, viewers’ comments and case studies through Telemundo’s website www.yahootelemundo.com, numerous stories in its newscasts and shows like “Cada Dia” and “Al Rojo Vivo.”

Telemundo’s 2008-2009 season promises more high-quality, original novelas for Hispanics.

Telemundo presents a spectacular, star-studded production with “El Juramento” (Secret Lies). Santiago De Landeros, a noble hard-working businessman, is shocked by the violent suicide of his brother Diego. When he discovers that Diego’s dreams were shattered by the betrayal of a heartless woman, he seeks only one thing: to avenge his brother’s death. A gold chain with the letter “A” is his only clue and he discovers that there are only two like these in the world. Blinded by his lust for revenge, Santiago visits the place where his brother once lived, and along the way falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful young Andrea. With over 100 years of tradition and the most league championships in Mexican League soccer history, Las Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara is Mexico’s team and Telemundo is now their new home. For the next 5 years, Telemundo will feature all home games for Chivas on our newest soccer property, “Futbol Estelar.”

WEEKEND

This season, Telemundo will continue to build on its hugely successful primetime movie showcases (Cine Millonario, Cine Nuestro, Cine de Impacto, Cine en Casa) that highlight the best in Hollywood and Latin American films.
