Telemundo Annouces Production Agreement With Jennifer Lopez.

Telemundo announced a long-term production agreement with Jennifer Lopez and Benny Medina. The first project will be a novela that tells the story of a girl from the barrio who dreams of becoming a star and is determined to overcome all the obstacles that a young Latina faces in achieving success. Future projects under discussion include a music dance variety show.

Jennifer Lopez announced tonight from the Telemundo Upfront, presented at the Beacon Theatre in NYC:

“Estoy tan contenta de estar aqui con mi gente!

“In my house, I grew up watching NBC and Telemundo. I watched all of the telenovellas, and all the great shows en Espanol. I wanted to get involved in making shows for Telemundo because I loved the idea of creating quality shows for our culture.

“I see this opportunity as a way to connect to the Spanish speaking audience in a different and more profound way than has been done in the past.

“I want to tell the stories of Latinos who grow up here and live the American dream.

“My partner, Benny Medina, and our company Nuyorican Productions, will create shows that express themselves through drama, comedy, reality, music and dance. We will be bringing them to Telemundo and all of you advertisers first!

“We want all of you to support the next wave of Latino television.”
