Telemundo announces key promotions.

Telemundo Network announced several key promotions within its Network Sales Team. The appointments come about the highly valued performance of some of the network’s top sales managers. The announcement was made by Keith Turner, President of Sales & Marketing, NBC Universal, and Steve Mandala, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Telemundo and NBC Universal Networks.
“I am proud to work with such a great group of leaders,” said Mandala. “The quality of our work continues to improve dramatically and I am confident we’ve got the best sales team in place to continue offering top-notch service to our clients nationally in line with our network’s commitment to excellence and integrity.”
All Vice Presidents are responsible for managing the sales operations for their offices, managing client relationships, developing new business for their region, grow sales revenue, and develop employees within their offices, among other duties.
Effective immediately, the following executives were promoted to:
Dennis Dunphy – VP, Network Sales, Telemundo (Chicago)
Joining Telemundo in 2003, Dunphy previously held the post of Regional Sales Manager also for the network’s sales efforts in Chicago. Dunphy began his career in Advertising sales and has worked for companies such as Discovery Communications and Sony Television
Gian Pablo Kates – VP, Network Sales – Telemundo (Miami)
Kates has been with Telemundo for the past 11 years; most recently holding the post of Regional Sales Manager in Miami, FL. He joined the network in as an Account Executive in 1995 after garnering extensive experience working for The Sun Sentinel and America Media Group.
Sylvia Reed – VP, Network Sales – Telemundo (Los Angeles)
Beginning her career as a Sales Assistant for Univision Network in 1987, Reed has built a formidable career in Ad Sales throughout the years. She joined Telemundo in 1993 as a Spot Account Executive, quickly rising through the ranks to her prior role of Regional Sales Manager for the Los Angeles Market.
Mike Gillespie – VP, Network Sales – Telemundo (Dallas)
Responsible for Telemundo’s sales efforts in the Dallas market, Gillespie was most recently Regional Sales Manager for Network Sales. An experienced executive having worked in markets like Springfield, MA, San Juan, PR, Tampa, FL and New York, NY, among others, Guillespie joined Telemundo in 2002 after holding the post of President at his own company in Boston, MA.
Joe Bernard – VP, Network Sales – Mun2 Television.
Bernard joined Telemundo’s cable network mun2 in January 2003, after having worked for the network’s sales office in New York City until the year 2000. Most recently the Director of mun2 sales, he is responsible for the sales operations of the mun2 network.
In addition, Lesa Nikolai has been named Director, Network Sales for Telemundo. Nikolai joined the network in 1999 as an Account Executive for Telemundo in San Antonio. She has previously worked for companies like Fox, the WB, and Sun Rise Imaging.
