Telemundo announces Nominees & Performers for 2018 Latin AMA’s

Telemundo announced the nominees for the 2018 “Latin AMAs” (Latin American Music Awards). Top nominees this year include Ozuna (9), J Balvin (9), Nicky Jam (8), Daddy Yankee (6), Bad Bunny (5), Banda MS de Sergio Lizarraga (5), Christian Nodal (5), Luis Fonsi (4), Maluma (4), Romeo Santos (4), Shakira (4) and Wisin (4). Produced by Telemundo and Somos Productions, the fourth annual “Latin AMAs” pays tribute to today’s most influential and iconic Latin artists, as voted by the fans in the tradition of the “American Music Awards,” the world’s largest fan-voted award show.

The three-hour special showcases performances by artists that are relevant to Latinos, regardless of language. Hip hop star Cardi B, regional Mexican singer and songwriter Christian Nodal, international rapper Pitbull,  popular boy band CNCO, renowned rapper and actor Ludacris, bachata singer and songwriter Prince Royce, singer, songwriter and actress Becky G, regional Mexican band from Sinaloa, Banda MS de Sergio Lizarraga, pop singer Leslie Grace, multi-platinum rapper Flo Rida, Argentinian singer Tini, and Spanish pop singer Alvaro Soler compose the initial line-up of stars to perform at this year’s event. The program will broadcast live from the prestigious Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, on Thursday October 25, 2018 at 8pm/7c, preceded by a one-hour carpet pre-show “La Alfombra de Latin AMAs” at 7pm/6c. The show will also air simultaneously on Spanish-language entertainment cable network, Universo.

The “Latin AMAs” honors artists in the genres of Pop/Rock, Regional Mexican, Urban, and Tropical, as well as categories for Favorite Crossover Artist, New Artist of the Year, Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, among others. The “Latin AMAs” nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including sales, airplay, streaming and social activity tracked by Billboard through its data partners Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound for data covering the periods of Aug. 11, 2017 through Aug. 9, 2018. The selection of the Favorite Video category is based on videos submitted by record labels and independent producers, and selected by a committee of industry professionals. This “producers’ choice award” takes into account the quality, content, and creativity of the music video. The winner will be chosen by the fans along with the rest of the Latin AMAs. Created in 1973 by Dick Clark, the “American Music Awards” is the world’s largest fan-voted awards show, watched in more than 200 countries and territories. Telemundo’s “Latin AMAs” is quickly accumulating its own popularity. Last year’s show, hosted by Becky G and Diego Boneta, and featuring top musical acts such as Camila Cabello, Fifth Harmony, Pablo Alboran, Pitbull and Prince Royce, reached a cumulative audience of 4.4 Million total viewers and 2.2 Million adults 18-49, according to Nielsen. The star-studded awards show, ranked as the #1 most social program of the night, excluding sports. From the start of voting, Latin AMAs generated over half a million social actions across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – the highest in Latin AMAs history.

(“The Voice,” “American Idol,” “X-Factor”), the market leader in audience participation and consumer engagement for live television.
