The 2013 “Billboard Latin Music Awards Presented by State Farm” for the first time will also shine a spotlight on several talented new artists whose original creations celebrate the passion and culture of what the awards show has come to represent. Following a public call for entries, Telemundo Media and Billboard, in partnership with the Wynwood Art Community, have commissioned six young, rising artists to create original music murals inspired by different genres of Latin Music, entitled “The Art of Music” presented by State Farm.
At the official Telemundo after party celebration, the murals will be exhibited and auctioned to benefit the Wynwood Art community. A donation will also be made by State Farm and Telemundo Media to Miami Music Project, an organization that uses music as an instrument for social transformation, empowering children to acquire values and achieve their full potential, positively affecting their society through the study and performance of music. The art displayed represents the different Latin music genres, such as salsa, merengue, reggaeton, tango, samba and bolero, and the larger-than-life essence of the music being celebrated at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. A time lapse video diary of the artists creating their work will be showcased at the after party celebration alongside the mural and the artist’s biography, photo and inspiration.
“This initiative is a unique opportunity to express our pride and passion for the culture and inspiration inherent in Latin music,” said Christine Escribano, Senior Vice President, Integrated Marketing Solutions, Telemundo Media. “We are honored to partner with Billboard and the Wynwood Art Community in literally recognizing the art of Latin music”
“The Billboard Latin Music Awards Presented by State Farm” will air live on Telemundo April 25, 2013 at 7pm ET/6pm CT from the BankUnited Center in Miami, Florida.
