Telemundo celebrates 100-Day Countdown to FIFA’s Women’s event World Cup 2023

Telemundo, the exclusive Spanish-language home of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™, unveils comprehensive coverage plans and kicks off “La Copa Es Nuestra / The Cup is Ours” marketing campaign in celebration of the 100-day countdown to the start of the tournament this summer on July 20. All 64 matches will be televised live and exclusively in Spanish on Telemundo and Universo – airing 33 and 31 matches respectively – and stream live on Peacock.

Telemundo’s presentation marks the first time in U.S. television history the women’s competition is broadcasted in its entirety in Spanish and the most matches ever airing live on a U.S. broadcast network, regardless of language. In addition, the highly anticipated tournament this summer will be the first-ever Women’s World Cup on Peacock, the exclusive Spanish-language streaming home of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™, which will stream every match live.

Coverage Plans and Production Preview: Most Extensive Spanish-Language Presentation Ever

Telemundo Deportes’ cross-continental production will feature extensive and far-reaching on-the-ground coverage across Australia and New Zealand. The network will have four main hosts for this event who will roam both countries as they follow Team USA on their attempt to make history as the first national team to win its 3rd consecutive championship title as well as the other most relevant teams for U.S. Hispanic audiences. Telemundo will deliver the most compelling and complete coverage on and off the pitch while showcasing the best of the host countries to the audiences we serve. In addition, Telemundo will deploy additional crews dedicated to ancillary content tailored specifically for digital and social media platforms.

Telemundo Center, the company’s state-of-the-art headquarters in Miami, will complement and enhance the network’s presence across the two host countries and live match coverage with studio shows, such as Zona Mixta, and original programming dedicated to the tournament. Studio interventions during the matches will include analysis and debates as well as pre-, halftime and post-game shows. Complete programming will be announced at a later date.

Telemundo Deportes’ award-winning team of sports commentators, analysts and hosts return for FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ after delivering a historic and record-breaking Men’s World Cup last fall. Hall of Famer, six-time Emmy award-winner Andres Cantor will serve as chief soccer commentator and lead play-by-play announcer. Coverage will be anchored by Telemundo’s Emmy-nominated sports host Ana Jurka, Emmy-award winning sports journalist Miguel Gurwitz, lead Premier League host Carlota Vizmanos and World Cup veteran reporter and Telemundo 48’s Carlos Yustis as the official hosts, leading the pre-, halftime and post-game analysis. Sports journalist and host Veronica Rodriguez will host Telemundo’s leading late-night weekend sports show, Zona Mixta, throughout the tournament.

The announce team will be led by Cantor alongside former Mexican National Team and Chivas player Manuel Sol and experienced sports analyst Eduardo Biscayart who join the coverage as lead analysts. Two-time Emmy award nominee Sammy Sadovnik, the voice of World Cup 2019’s Final, Copan Alvarez, well-known soccer host and announcer Daniella Lopez-Guajaro, and accomplished Spanish-language sports broadcaster Jorge Calvo will provide play-by-play as well. The complete roster will include diverse soccer legends and world class experts with unique experiences from all facets of the game complementing Telemundo Deportes’ renowned award-winning commentary team.
