Telemundo Deportes to broadcast FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay 2018

Telemundo Deportes, the Spanish-language home for all FIFA events including the 2019 Women’s World Cup France, presents exclusive coverage of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay 2018, the sixth edition of the biennial international women’s youth soccer championship featuring 16 teams competing for the title. Universo and the Telemundo Deportes EN VIVO app will present all the matches live, providing 64 hours of coverage across platforms. Nine matches will air live on Universo while the rest will stream exclusively on Telemundo Deportes App and via TelemundoDeportes.com.

The 19-day event kicks off Tuesday, November 13 with four matches including Brazil vs. Japan at 11:55 a.m. ET live on the Telemundo Deportes En Vivo App and Mexico vs. South Africa at 2:55 p.m., live on Universo.

The coverage will be led by Frederik Oldenburg and Alejandro Perez with special guest appearances including Costa Rica’s female national team coach Amelia Valverde and former Argentine player and current president of the “Asociación de Fútbol Femenino de Argentina” Evelina Cabrera, among others.

The match action will be supplemented by daily highlights and commentary on “Titulares y Mas” as well as comprehensive content across Telemundo Deportes’ digital and social media platforms, throughout the tournament.

The 32-match tournament will take place across three cities in Uruguay: Colonia de Sacramento, Maldonado and Montevideo. Among the 16 teams competing is Mexico, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Germany and Spain. Defending champion Korea DPR is arguably the most successful team at this age level, having reached the final on three occasions and taken the title in 2008 and 2016.

Telemundo Deportes’ extensive FIFA coverage continues a week after the U-17 Women’s World Cup champion is crowned, with the exclusive, Spanish-language broadcast of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup France Final Draw. The event will air live on Telemundo and Universo on Saturday, December 8 at 11:55 a.m. ET. Five time Emmy-winner Andres Cantor will lead the coverage live from the Seine Musicale performing arts center in Boulogne-Bollancourt, near Paris, with Carlota Vizmanos also reporting from site. Miguel Gurwitz, Ana Jurka, Copan Alvarez, and guests commentators will join the broadcast, live from Telemundo Center in Miami.
