Telemundo Growth In Key Demos.

Telemundo Network closed another month with rating increases in Monday through Friday (M-F) primetime among the highly coveted demos of adults 18-49 (A18-49) and 18-34 (A18-34). October represented the fifth consecutive month the Spanish-language network posts ratings gains in primetime and the network’s strongest performance in the last twelve months, making it the only Spanish-language broadcast network with primetime growth over last month and last year.
Averaging a 3.3 rating and a 23% share of Spanish language broadcast television in A18-49 M-F for the month of October, Telemundo’s primetime delivered ratings growth compared to all major benchmarks, increasing 6% vs. last month (3.1), 32% vs. July ‘05 (2.5), 38% vs. May ’05 (2.4) and 10% vs. last year (3.0).
“For five months in a row Telemundo has consistently delivered ratings growth in primetime, clearly indicating we’re on the right track and definitely well poised for the November sweeps,” said Don Browne, President, Telemundo. “Our prime time is performing better than last year and together with the recent launch of Corazon Partido – our latest novela produced in Mexico – and the strong growth among the female audience in our morning show, we’re confident we will end the year in a very strong position.”
Among A18-34 Telemundo M-F Prime averaged a 3.3 rating, posting its best performance in a year and increasing +18% vs. last month (2.8), plus 38% vs. July ’05 (2.4), +50% vs. May ’05 (2.2) and plus 18% vs. last year (2.8). In A18-34 Telemundo is again the only Spanish-language broadcast network that can claim primetime growth over last month and last year. In this demo, Telemundo continues to solidly outperform Telefutura with a 136% ratings advantage (3.3 vs. 1.4).
Broken down by time period, Telemundo registered gains for every one of its originally-produced shows:
In October ’05 La Tormenta averaged a 2.7 rating in A18-49 and a 2.8 in A18-34, growing +4% over last month and last year in the younger demo.
El Cuerpo del Deseo continues to reach new highs, delivering its strongest ratings since its premiere. In October ’05 El Cuerpo del Deseo achieved a 4.3 rating among A18-49, plus 8% higher than last month’s performance (4.0) and plus 23% above the year ago time period delivery (3.5). El Cuerpo del Deseo’s growth is even more impressive among A18-34. With a 4.4 rating in Oct’05, El Cuerpo del Deseo gained plus 22% vs. prior month (3.6) and plus 33% vs. last year (3.3) in the younger demo. El Cuerpo del Deseo is capturing a larger portion of the A18-49 Hispanic audience with a 27 share of Spanish-language broadcast television in October ’05, 4 share points higher than last month, and a 26 share for A18-34, 6 points higher than last month.
In its last month Los Plateados posted its highest monthly ratings, averaging a 2.9 among A18-49 and a 2.7 among A18-34 in October ’05, growing plus 7% and plus+13%, respectively, from the prior month.
Decisiones averaged a 2.7 rating among A18-49, increasing plus 8% over last month and over last year (2.5). With a 2.7 rating in A18-34, Decisiones gained plus 17% over last month (2.3) and plus 13% vs. year ago (2.4).
