Telemundo was honored with two prestigious media industry awards by The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the organization’s 22nd Annual Media Awards ceremony held at the Marriot Marquis in New York.
The network’s original production, “¿Dónde está Elisa?” was recognized in the Outstanding Novela category. The popular telenovela filled with intrigue and suspense is centered on the disappearance of a teenage girl from a wealthy and seemingly perfect family. Rounding out the star-studded cast are Sonya Smith, Catherine Siachoque, Gabriel Porras, Jorge Luis Pila and Roberto Mateos.
In addition, Telemundo’s “Caso Cerrado,” with Emmy-nominated Dra. Ana Maria Polo, was recognized in the Outstanding Daytime Talk Show Episode category for the episode entitled “Proposición 8,” based on California’s Proposition 8 referendum at the center of debate during the state elections. “Caso Cerrado,” which next month celebrates its tenth anniversary, is currently the #1 Spanish-language program at 4pm.
