Telemundo introduces FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP 2023 programming & schedule

Telemundo, the Spanish-language home of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023™, unveils its complete broadcast lineup and announce teams ahead of the opening match which airs live this Friday, November 10 on Universo and the Telemundo App.

All 24 participating nations have recently confirmed their squad lists for this global tournament where the stars of tomorrow are discovered. Soccer superstars such as Landon Donovan, Toni Kroos, Cesc Fabregas, Anderson and Phil Foden have won the tournament golden ball in the past and others like Luis Figo, Ronaldinho and Carlos Vela jumped to fame with their participation in the U-17 World Cup.

The network’s broadcast schedule is outlined below, including all 52 matches airing live and exclusively in Spanish with 13 on Telemundo and 19 on Universo, and every match streaming live on the Telemundo App starting November 10 through December 2. Reairs of the Semifinal and Final matches are currently scheduled to air on Universo.

In this year’s tournament, four-time winners Brazil are defending their championship title while former champions England, France and, two-time champions, Mexico fight to earn back the trophy. Hosts Indonesia are the competition’s sole debutants while Spanish-speaking countries Ecuador, Panama, Spain, Argentina, Venezuela, plus Brazil and USA, return to the competition.

Coverage will be anchored by Telemundo’s award-winning commentary team with analysis by former Mexican National Team and Chivas player Manuel Sol, professional soccer coach Natalia Astrain, experienced sports analyst Eduardo Biscayart, Venezuelan sports journalist Daniel Chapela, Ecuadorian sports analyst Jaime Macias, and seasoned soccer analyst Walter Roque. Play-by-play for the matches will be led by two-time Emmy award nominee Sammy Sadovnik, veteran sports journalist Copan Alvarez, soccer announcer Jesus Acosta, former professional midfielder Juan Arango, accomplished Spanish-language sports broadcaster Jorge Calvo, and play-by-play commentator Diego Pessolano.

Telemundo Deportes’ coverage will highlight the four Indonesian venues Surabaya, Surakarta, Jakarta and Bandung bringing viewers closer to the action through storytelling. Post-game interviews with team staff and players and press conferences covering the most popular storylines of the tournament keeping fans up to speed on the latest news surrounding the teams’ performances.

Telemundo’s late-night weekend sports show Zona Mixta will wrap up each week with an update on the key storylines and analysis on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 p.m. ET or after network news.
