Telemundo launches Café Golazo,
March 24, 2026
Telemundo announced Café Golazo, a new multi-city community conversation series debuting in Phoenix under its national sports impact initiative, Tu Momento. Tu Jugada., which champions the transformative power of sport to inspire character, teamwork, and leadership across communities nationwide.
Launched in 2025, Tu Momento. Tu Jugada., known in English as Telemundo’s Next Play, is built on the belief that the spirit of sport can elevate every community. The values learned on the field — resilience, discipline, collaboration, and fair play — are the same values that help families and neighborhoods progress. Through its mobile experience, supported by Comcast NBCUniversal, as well as youth clinics and its digital series, Más Que Un Juego, the initiative brings the excitement and unifying power of sport directly into local communities across the country.
“Café Golazo reflects our continued commitment to ensuring that the excitement of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ extends far beyond the matches,” said Luis Rosero, Vice President of Corporate & External Affairs, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. “Through Tu Momento. Tu Jugada., we are bringing communities together, elevating local voices, and creating spaces where collaboration and opportunity can take root.”
Café Golazo expands this mission by creating intimate, locally focused gatherings that bring together civic leaders, youth organizations, and community stakeholders to explore the opportunity, investment, and long-term impact surrounding the FIFA World Cup 2026™. Through its national network and local station footprint, Telemundo is uniquely positioned to bring these conversations to communities across the country.
“Phoenix has a deep and growing passion for fútbol, and launching Café Golazo here reflects our commitment to uplifting the voices, stories, and aspirations of our community,” said Andrew Deschapelles, President & General Manager, Telemundo Phoenix, Telemundo Las Vegas & Telemundo Tucson. “This event creates an important space for dialogue and connection as we prepare for this historic moment, and we are proud to help lead that conversation.”
The first Café Golazo, in partnership with Telemundo Arizona, takes place today in Phoenix, March 19, bringing together community members for a morning of coffee and conversation centered on the unifying power of fútbol and what the sport means for the future of Phoenix.
The program will feature a fireside chat with:
- Monica Villalobos, President & CEO, Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
- Heber Valenzuela, President, State 48 FC Foundation
- Bobby Dulle, President, Phoenix Rising Football Club
The conversation will be moderated by Ivan Valenzuela, Sports Anchor, Noticiero Telemundo Arizona.
“Fútbol has always brought people together, and Café Golazo is a powerful example of how sport can inspire meaningful conversation and drive community progress,” said Monica Villalobos, President & CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “We’re honored to help kick off this series in Phoenix and spotlight the opportunities ahead for our residents and local businesses.”
