Telemundo launches ‘Enfoque’.

Telemundo announced the launch of Enfoque, a Sunday morning public affairs show hosted by Emmy Award-winning news anchor Jose Diaz-Balart. Enfoque will be broadcast from Washington, D.C. and begins airing Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 11:30am ET/10:30am Central.

Jose Diaz-Balart, Telemundo anchor and veteran journalist regularly featured on NBC News shows, will moderate discussions with world and U.S. leaders, news makers, celebrities and everyday Americans addressing the topics that matter to Hispanics. Directly from inside the beltway, the new public affairs show will focus on the key stories, issues and concerns facing the Hispanic community, based on audience participation online, in a contemporary and dynamic style.

“Telemundo has been a pioneer in Spanish-language news programming for U.S. Hispanic audiences,” said Don Browne, President, Telemundo. “Leveraging Jose’s deep expertise in political issues, Enfoque comes at a crucial time for the Hispanic community. Critical issues of the day will be examined including the Census, the economy, healthcare, education and the pending immigration reform. We are proud of serving our community by giving Hispanics the information they need to be informed, empowered and inspired to pursue the American dream.”

In addition to discussing and reviewing the news stories of the week, each 30-minute broadcast will feature a focus on achieving the “American Dream.” These weekly segments center on helping Hispanics achieve their dreams and will profile real-life heroes. Hispanics are now at a critical juncture in their history, as they work harder than ever to achieve the “American Dream” for their families. Enfoque will serve to show audiences how to gain their rights and build a better life and will address questions and topics submitted online.
