Telemundo Launches OlimpiadasTelemundo.com
June 20, 2004
Telemundo announced the launch of http://www.OlimpiadasTelemundo.com , the official web site for the first Spanish-language Olympics coverage in the U.S. offering information in Spanish 24/7.
Viewers can now visit http://www.OlimpiadasTelemundo.com to obtain in-depth information on the sports that matter most to U.S. Hispanics: Soccer, Basketball, Baseball and Beach Volleyball, among others. The site features profiles of every country participating in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, biographies of key athletes and commentaries from Telemundo’s team of broadcasters. Daily coverage, including photo galleries of the competition and behind-the-scenes pictures, will keep site visitors updated on this major international sports event.
One of the website’s main attractions is an innovative technology under the “PAISES” section. PAISES features a complete list of all the countries participating in the 2004 Olympic Games presented in an interactive module that allows users to move the globe to whatever region they desire, and click on any country to display a background on that country, as well as Olympic history and their prospects for the upcoming games.
Live from Athens, Greece, Telemundo is making history by being the first U.S. network ever to broadcast the Olympic Games in Spanish. By Hispanics and for Hispanics, Telemundo brings this extraordinary event from August 11 through the 29th by offering viewers over 160 hours of programming, the most in-depth Olympic coverage in U.S. Hispanic television.
