Telemundo marks 13 months of growth.

Telemundo announced its October NTI results.

According to Nielsen Media Research, 2009 has been Telemundo’s best October performance in the history of the network. Telemundo averaged 641,000 in Adults 18-49 in Monday through Sunday prime, an +11% increase over October 2008 (577,000) and marking the thirteenth consecutive month with year-over-year growth. Among Adults 18-34, Telemundo saw +16% growth over October 2008 (390,000 vs. 336,000). Over one million total viewers (Persons 2+) tuned in to Telemundo prime every night during the month of October, a +2% gain compared to last year. Compared with the previous year, the network’s share of the Spanish-language broadcast TV audience grew two points to 22% among Adults 18-49.

Telemundo also delivered its strongest performance for the month of October in Monday through Friday prime in four years, averaging 642,000 in Adults 18-49 and gaining +3% over last year. The network’s share of the Adult 18-49 Spanish-language audience grew one point to 21%. The network saw an increase of +9% over October 2008 in Adults 18-34 (384,000 vs. 353,000).

For the third straight month, Telemundo’s popular novela, “Mas Sabe el Diablo,” delivered more viewers and broke past the 700,000 mark for the first time, delivering an average of 728,000 Adults 18-49 and increasing +9% over September 2009. The novela delivered its best weekly performance to date among Adults 18-49 during the week of October 19 (811,000) and hit a new telecast high on October 20 with 875,000 Adults 18-49 viewers.

“Los Victorinos” is proving to be one of Telemundo’s most successful novelas, averaging 658,000 Adults 18-49 in October and 677,000 Adults 18-49 from its premiere to date.

Telemundo aired four of the top five primetime movies broadcast by the Spanish-language networks in October, including the #1 ranked “The Day After Tomorrow” and the #2 ranked “El Hijo del Pueblo,” both of which delivered one million Adults 18-49.

Sports

Rumbo al Mundial matches continue to elevate Telemundo prime to record levels. The match on October 10 featuring Mexico vs. El Salvador was the highest rated sporting event broadcast on Spanish-language television during the month of October. The Rumbo al Mundial match was watched by more viewers in the Adults 18-49 demographic, on average, than other sporting events broadcast on other major networks, regardless of language, including Futbol Liga Mexicana, Saturday Night Football on ABC, Home Depot College Football 2 on CBS.

Telemundo’s cable network, mun2, continues to shatter records, delivering growth in key demos. mun2 delivered its largest October viewership since its NTI measurement began and recorded its sixth month of consecutive year-to-year growth. In Monday through Friday prime, mun2 experienced an increase of +25% in Persons 18-34 over October 2008. mun2 also saw year to year increases in other key demographics, including +36% in Persons 12-34, +58% in Persons 18-49, +50% in Persons 12-17, +38% in Persons 12-24, +78% in Men 18-34 and +82% in Men 18-49.
