Telemundo names Galvez and Riehl to VPs of Production.

Telemundo announced that veteran media executives Alonso Galvez and Christian Riehl have been promoted to Vice Presidents of Production for Telemundo. The announcement was made by Derek Bond, Senior Executive Vice President, Studios, Production & Broadcast Operations, to whom they will report.

Galvez’s focus will be on the network’s hit dating show 12 Corazones, as well as Telemundo’s popular weekend shows Nítido and Déscontrol, and alternative programs. Riehl will be at the helm of Telemundo’s broadcast of the Billboard Latin Music Awards, presented by State Farm, which takes place on April 29, 2010. He will also continue to oversee the network’s live, three-hour morning show Levantate, as well as Caso Cerrado and a new project entitled Persiguiendo Injusticias.

“Alonso and Christian have made important contributions to the Telemundo Studios during their successful tenure at the network,” said Bond. “Their industry knowledge and rich experience in production and programming for the Hispanic audience is integral to their new roles, and we are excited for them both to continue the rapid growth of Telemundo Studios with creative, innovative programming.”

Galvez has over 20 years experience in consulting, developing, and producing programs for the Hispanic television audience. Since his arrival to Telemundo in January 2007, Galvez has overseen the development, production and launch of over 14 shows and specials. Before joining Telemundo, Galvez spent 15 years at Univision where he served as a media executive for the network.

Riehl’s career has included extensive experience in production and network operations for Spanish-language television programs. Prior to joining Telemundo in 2001, Riehl served as Executive Producer at Orinoco Productions where he developed and created original programs for the Hispanic audience. He has also held positions at the Travel Channel Latin America and Telenoticias, where he created program concepts and series all aimed at the Hispanic viewer.
