Telemundo to premier El Señor de los Cielos

Telemundo announced the premiere of the most ambitious production on U.S. Hispanic television this year, “El Señor de los Cielos” (Lord of the Skies), on Monday, April 15 at 10pm/9c. Based on real events, this Telemundo Studios and Caracol TV co-production, tells the story of a man who became powerful enough to bring Mexico to its knees by transforming the drug trafficking business and conquering the skies with a fleet of planes for smuggling drugs into the United States. Starring Rafael Amaya alongside a cast of more than 275 actors and 3000 extras, this lavish production taped 100% on locations in Mexico, is the first made-for-TV series to tell the story of this legendary drug king who set out to become the richest and most powerful man in the world after the controversial Pablo Escobar.
The international cast of “El Señor de los Cielos” includes the versatile actor Gabriel Porras as Marco Mejía, Robinson Díaz as “El Cabo” and a special appearance by Andres Parra of the hit Caracol TV series “Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal.” Joining them are renowned actors Ximena Herrera, Fernanda Castillo, Arturo Barba, Lisa Owen, Javier Díaz Dueñas, Raúl Méndez, Angélica Celaya, Rocío Verdejo, Ruy Senderos, Juan Ríos and Fabián Peña.
Telemundo Studios and Caracol TV join forces in this production taped by Argos Television on more than 300 locations across Mexico, including ranches, airports and haciendas, and featuring state-of-the-art special effects.
