Telemundo premiers ‘Las Aparicio’ on HD broadband player.

Telemundo announced it will premiere in full, a new Primetime full-length novela across the network’s digital platforms via a hybrid distribution model prior to making its national broadcast debut.

Leveraging MSN’s technology, Telemundo’s bold new programming move centers on “Las Aparicio,” a 120 episode novela that will launch on Telemundo.com on a new HD broadband player developed specifically for Telemundo and supported by partner MSN. “Las Aparicio” will feature will feature English and Portuguese subtitles to attract and appeal to the full spectrum of U.S. Hispanics.

“The latest research shows there are close to 28 million Hispanics online in the U.S.,” said Peter Blacker, Executive Vice President, Digital Media and Emerging Businesses. “Hispanics’ appetite for TV content online continues to grow at an incredible rate. Almost half of US Hispanics online watch entire episodes of TV Shows online versus only 28% of the general market. The launch of ‘Las Aparicio’ is Telemundo’s latest programming innovation marrying our viewers’ fascination for digital TV content with cutting-edge technology. The digital novela will be available to viewers through two distribution channels; one that is ad-supported and the other via Pay-Per-View. The ad-supported option will offer viewers extensive highlights and clips from “Las Aparicio” as well as provide opportunities for them to engage in real-time Social Media Viewing Experiences on Telemundo.com connected with Twitter, Facebook and mobile devices. The Pay-Per-View option brings full episodes to viewers for a monthly membership fee where they can access any episode on demand.
