Telemundo presents “Gran Hermano”

TELEMUNDO plans to add “Gran Hermano,” the first-ever Spanish-language U.S. reality show based on the worldwide hit format, to its growing slate of reality fare. An original series produced by Endemol Shine Latino, the Spanish language division of Endemol Shine North America, exclusively for TELEMUNDO and featuring a U.S. Hispanic cast, “Gran Hermano” is a real-life soap opera that begins when fourteen strangers commit to living together with no connection to the outside world in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones, recording their every move 24 hours a day, seven days a week. One by one, the contestants will vote each other out until the last remaining house guest wins a grand prize.  The series, which will air over 13 weeks representing more than 100 hours of original content, will be paired with a 24-hour digital hub at Telemundo.com that allows viewers to check in on the housemates whenever they choose and see events unfold in real time.

“We are pleased to add yet another truly global hit franchise to Telemundo’s reality lineup,” said Luis Silberwasser, President, TELEMUNDO.  “Our viewers are passionate and engaged with reality entertainment programming, and with ‘Gran Hermano’ our partners at Endemol Shine North America have provided us with an addictive new series whose cast will fully represent the changing face of America.”

Endemol Shine North America Co-Chairmen and Co-CEO’s Cris Abrego and Charlie Corwin stated, “We are thrilled to bring ‘Gran Hermano’ to the U.S. Hispanic audience with our partners at TELEMUNDO. This series continues to resonate with TV audiences all over the world and our team has developed an exciting new version that we believe will resonate with the Spanish-language viewers here in the U.S.”
