Telemundo Presents ‘ Juntos Para Un Mundo’ Anti-Drug Campaign.

In an effort to help raise awareness about the alarming drug problem affecting today’s youth, “El Clon”, the novela that broke all molds by tackling intriguing, real-life subjects like human cloning and Muslim life, alongside Spanish-language Telemundo network, present “Juntos para un mundo mejor” (Together For A Better World) an innovative anti-drug campaign with a whole new approach. “El Clon” airs Monday to Friday at 10:00 PM ET/PT.

From the very beginning, the novela “El Clon” has stood out from the rest thanks to its unusual, real-life content and treating issues like human cloning, cultural diversity and social inequalities. Now, its plot moves to a new stage and takes on the topic of drug abuse by highlighting some of its characters’ experiences with them, and incorporating real-life documentary footage discussing the damaging effects of drug abuse. For the duration of this novela, Telemundo will make a significant commitment to help audiences identify and find solutions to this problem.

To enhance the new anti-drug message that will be part of “El Clon” every night, Telemundo will produce and air a series of public service announcements that will feature anti-drug message clips from the novela as well as support initiatives in local stations. Telemundo will also air PSA’s created for Partnership for a Drug-Free America, an organization devoted to helping kids and teens reject substance abuse.

“The Partnership is dedicated to informing parents and teens about the dangers of using, and alternatives to not using, drugs,” said Steve Pasierb, president and ceo, PDFA. “We are excited about informing Telemundo’s viewers about this issue that affects individuals of all backgrounds, race, age and gender.”

The campaign will also include an online component via the network’s own web site. Viewers will be able to log on to www.telemundo.com for more information about the new campaign, view excerpts of help guides such as “How to be a Better Parent” and “Growing up Drug-Free: A Parents Guide to Prevention,” and access a link to the website run by Partnership for a Drug Free America where they’ll be able to order these free of charge and learn more about the many resources available in the fight against drugs.

“With this new initiative, Telemundo wants to stress its commitment to our audience by dealing with the issues that are of most importance to our community,” said Jim McNamara, President and Chief Executive Officer of Telemundo Communications Group, Inc.
