Telemundo recognized by the World Boxing Organization.

Telemundo was recognized by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) as the Latino TV Network of the year at the organization’s 25th annual convention, held last night at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in South Florida.

“Telemundo has been a supporter of boxing for more than 20 years,” said Francisco Valcarcel, President of the World Boxing Organization. “Boxing fans have watched new fighters develop in ‘Boxeo Telemundo’ for decades. For the support and commitment they lend to boxing, we present this award to them.”

“I am proud to receive this award on behalf of the Deportes Telemundo team. ‘Boxeo Telemundo’ is the network’s longest running show with over 23 years on the air and we are extremely committed to serving our viewers,” said Hidalgo.

Current and former world champions, world renowned coaches, managers, promoters, officers and other prominent figures from the political, social and cultural sectors were among the attendants at this year’s conference.

Felix “Tutico” Zabala Jr., president, All Star Boxing Inc. added, “I am happy for Jorge and the Deportes Telemundo team. This award acknowledges their long held commitment to Hispanic boxing through ‘Boxeo Telemundo.’”
