Telemundo continues to drive distribution with the renewal of an important affiliation agreement for the San Diego-Tijuana market and new broadcast affiliations in Savannah, GA and Columbia, South Carolina.
Telemundo has renewed its affiliation agreement in the San Diego-Tijuana market with Entravision Communications operated station XHAS, a Telemundo affiliate since 1990 and one of the network’s best performing affiliate stations. XHAS is also credited with producing successful local promotions that have helped fuel recent audience share growth.
Telemundo has also entered in affiliation agreements with WHDS in Savannah, GA, and WNXG in Columbia, SC, two of the fast growing U.S. Hispanic markets, with annual growth rates in excess of 20%. Both stations are owned and operated by WBHQ Columbia LLC and will launch in July.
“We are pleased to extend our relationship with XHAS and Entravision Communications in the San Diego-Tijuana market given the station’s strong track record,” said Ann Gaulke, Senior Vice-President of Affiliate Relations for Telemundo. Gaulke added, “We are also excited by the opportunity to further expand our distribution in the Southeastern portion of the United States, an area that is experiencing extraordinary growth among the U.S Hispanic community. Both Savannah, GA and Columbia, SC are becoming increasingly important Hispanic markets and we are pleased that Telemundo programming will be widely available to region.”
