Telemundo scores again with Rumbo al Mundial.

Telemundo Communications Group announced results for the Rumbo al Mundial: Mexico vs. Trinidad & Tobago World Cup Qualifying soccer match, which aired on Wednesday, June 10.

According to Nielsen Media Research data, Rumbo al Mundial was the #1 program of the night regardless of language among Men 18-34 (982,000) and #2 program among Men 18-49 (nearly 1.6 million). Women 18-49 (781,000) tuned in, an increase of + 146 % than in June 2009 prime average for Telemundo.

On average, nearly 3.4 million total viewers turned in to Wednesday night’s game.

The game attracted nearly 2.4 million Adults 18-49, making it the #3 primetime telecast in Telemundo’s history behind the Rumbo games which aired on April 1, 2009 and June 6, 2009. To date, all six Rumbo al Mundial games in 2009 rank among Telemundo’s top 20 primetime telecasts in the history of the network for Adults 18-49.

Telemundo was the #1 Spanish-language broadcast network on Wednesday night in primetime among Men 18-34 (569,000) and Men 18-49 (905,000). Regardless of language, Telemundo was the #3 broadcast network in primetime among Men 18-34, behind Fox and ABC. Telemundo’s share of Spanish for the night was 47% in Men 18-49 and 50% in Men 18-34.

Locally, among Adults 18-49, Rumbo al Mundial was the #1 program in its time period in the NSI markets of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston and Dallas. The match was also #1 in its time period among NSI households for Spanish-language stations in Las Vegas.

Rumbo Al Mundial continues with matches on June 24th and 28th, followed by the highly anticipated qualifying match – Mexico vs. USA, which is scheduled on August 12th. All games will be carried exclusively on Telemundo, the home of the Mexican National Team in the US.
