Telemundo Stations bring local news to Samsung TV Plus

Samsung TV Plus users can access premium local Spanish-language breaking news coverage and original content from Telemundo stations 24/7 by streaming the stations’ regional free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels. The first two channels to launch today include “Noticias Telemundo California” and “Noticias Telemundo Florida,” with two more channels – “Noticias Telemundo Noreste” and “Noticias Telemundo Texas” – expected to launch in April.

Each channel is powered by Telemundo-owned stations located in each state/region. This marks the first local Spanish-language news content available on Samsung TV Plus, the leading device manufacturer’s 100% free streaming TV and video-on-demand service available on all 2016-2023 Samsung Smart TVs and most Samsung Galaxy mobile devices.

“We’re proud to expand our partnership with Samsung and bring our premium Spanish-language local news from Telemundo stations to Samsung TV Plus users,” said Matt Schnaars, President, NBCUniversal Content Distribution. “As we continue to grow NBCUniversal’s footprint in the FAST landscape, we recognize the diversity of NBCUniversal viewers, importance of local news programming and are committed to offering premium content that resonates with Hispanic audiences everywhere.”

“As Telemundo stations continue to lead the industry as the only premium Spanish-language local news FAST channels in the streaming space, we are excited to make our Telemundo stations’ best-in-class journalism and content available to reach millions of Samsung TV Plus users and introduce new audiences to our best-in-class news and programming,” said Ozzie Martinez, Executive Vice President of Multiplatform News, Original Programming and Standards, Telemundo Station Group.

This launch follows the Telemundo stations’ recent roll out of their regional FAST channels on another top streaming platform, and last year’s launch of NBC stations’ FAST channels on Samsung TV Plus. All FAST channels on Samsung TV Plus are tailored to users’ regions to deliver customized news and weather.

In addition to Telemundo and NBC local stations, NBCUniversal has made programming including Dateline 24/7 and NBC News NOW available to Samsung TV Plus users as part of the platform’s more than 250 channels available in the U.S. and 1,900 channels globally across 24 countries. NBCUniversal’s One App, CNBC App, and NBC Sports App are also available on select Samsung devices.

“With our expanded NBCUniversal partnership and the arrival of Spanish language channels from Telemundo, we’re excited to offer Samsung TV Plus viewers even more access to premium, local news content completely for free,” said Takashi Nakano, Senior Director of Content and Business Development at Samsung TV Plus. “Samsung TV Plus provides one of the most comprehensive news offerings spanning international, business, and local, and we are proud to continue our valued collaboration with NBCUniversal and Telemundo to empower viewers to easily access the best in local news from coast-to-coast.”
