Telemundo & Televisa settle lawsuit.

Telemundo Communications Group, Inc. has agreed to settle a federal lawsuit filed by Grupo Televisa in Miami, Florida. This suit alleged that Telemundo tortuously interfered with Televisa’s contract with the actor Mauricio Islas. The federal courts have ruled that Televisa was entitled to pursue its claims under Florida law, and that the contract between Televisa and Mr. Islas was a valid and enforceable civil contract. Telemundo will abide by these rulings and pledges to respect Televisa’s rights in its contracts with actors and other artists.

Marcos Santana, President of Telemundo International, said: “Telemundo is glad that Televisa accepted the settlement offered by Telemundo and that this four year controversy with Grupo Televisa is over so Telemundo can focus on future projects with Grupo Televisa.”
