Telemundo Torino Winter Olympic Coverage.

Telemundo announced its planned coverage for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, to start on February10. From early in the morning to late at night, several of the network’s programs such as Cada Dia con Maria Antonieta, Cotorreando, Al Rojo Vivo, Noticiero Telemundo and Titulares Telemundo will be bringing the latest Olympic news to viewers with live coverage throughout the day. Telemundo sportscasters Jessi Losada and Edgar Lopez will serve as the network’s main Olympics hosts joined by Leti Coo and Mara Montero, who will report live and on-site from Torino, Italy.

“Telemundo made history in 2004 at the Olympic Games in Athens as the first Spanish-language network to bring Olympic coverage to U.S. Hispanic viewers in their language,” said Hidalgo. “The Winter Olympics serve as a means to keep the Olympic torch alive at Telemundo. We have a long-standing tradition of bringing quality, up-to-the-minute sports coverage to our viewers and we are thrilled to continue serving our viewers with our 2006 Torino coverage.”

Telemundo’s 2006 Winter Olympics coverage begins early in the morning with Edgar Lopez and Mara Montero reporting live on “Cada Dia con Maria Antonieta”. At noon, everyone’s favorite entertainment-news show “Cotorreando” joins in the excitement of the Olympic Games, offering re-caps and special reports on the athlete’s latest achievements. At 5 p.m., “Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste” welcomes Sports anchor, Jessi Losada hosts a special segment, which takes a look at the Olympic tradition and experience. Into the evening, “Noticiero Telemundo” (6:30pm) continues Telemundo’s Olympic coverage with special segments featuring stories originating in Torino, followed by an Olympic brief that will air during the first hour of prime-time programming. On the weekends, Telemundo’s sports-highlight program “Titulares Telemundo” sums-up all the week’s Olympic action reporting LIVE from Torino and the network’s studios in Hialeah, Fla.

Following NBC’s late-night coverage, Telemundo offers Olympic fans late-night and overnight Olympic programming featuring event highlights and recaps all throughout the week (Monday through Sunday).

Deportes Telemundo’s award-winning team will coordinate on-site with NBC Olympics to bring viewers the most important moments from the Winter Games. Guillermo Santa Cruz, Vice President, Special Events, News & Sports for will oversee the network’s production efforts in Torino.
