Telemundo’s Martínez-Llorián Honored By Congressman Bob Menendez.

WNJU vice president and general manager Manuel Martínez-Llorián was honored on Saturday, April 11 by Congressman Bob Menendez (D, NJ) with a prestigious United States “Congressional Pin” in recognition of his achievements as a broadcaster and member of the Telemundo family, and for his contributions to the advancement of the Hispanic community.

Telemundo 47 was also honored for its 40th anniversary as the tri-state area’s leading Hispanic station. Martínez-Llorián and Telemundo 47 were presented with the awards at the Continental Newspaper Gala held at Terrace on the Park in Queens.

Martínez-Llorián has dedicated the past 20 years of his career to Telemundo. He came to WNJU from the Telemundo Network in Miami where he was executive vice president of Programming and Production since 1997. In that capacity he was responsible for all programming, production and promotional strategies for the network. His contributions to programming changes and innovations within the network helped position Telemundo as one of the fastest-growing broadcast networks in North America, both in ratings and revenue. He first joined WNJU in 1985 and rose through the ranks at the station to become senior vice president and general manager. Under his leadership the station won its first Emmy and launched the award-winning late news “Noticiero 47.”
