Televisa & Telemundo launch Telemundo Cable Network.

Televisa Networks and Telemundo announced they have signed a joint venture agreement to launch the Telemundo channel, which will be distributed throughout Mexico and Latin America.

The agreements complement and are part of the strategic alliance announced in March 2008, to distribute Telemundo’s original content in Mexico through various platforms, including open television, paid television and emerging digital platforms.

“The union of two leading broadcasting brands in Mexico represents a great accomplishment for Telemundo,” said Don Browne, President, Telemundo. “This partnership has already generated great results for both our companies and with this agreement we will expand our reach and deliver the best Telemundo-branded content to a very important audience in Mexico and throughout Latin America.”

Bruce Boren, executive director of Televisa Networks, said: “We are very proud to be partners of a great company like Telemundo and we are very excited about including a new channel in our package of signals. This new offer strengthens our existing organization and will help Televisa Networks solidify its leadership in the marketplace.

The Telemundo channel will feature Telemundo’s best-known programs, including soap operas and entertainment and variety shows like “Al Rojo Vivo”, “Levantate” and “El Cuerpo del Deseo” among others. According to Telemundo executives, the launch of the channel on the Televisa Networks platform through Sky and Cablevisión is scheduled to take place this summer with an eight-hour programming line-up that will repeat three times per day.
