Terra.com Teams Up With mun2.

Provocative discussions about sexual orientation, religion, and other “hot” topics in the media tend not to take into consideration the nation’s fastest growing youth population. Now, the call for culturally relevant interactive programming developed for young U.S. Hispanics has been answered. Terra.com has expanded its relationship with mun2 television, to become the official sponsor of “Chat”, the first talk show to provide an interactive platform for young Hispanics. “Chat” airs Monday through Friday at 8PM (ET/PT) and for the first time in Spanish-language programming, viewers can exchange ideas and discuss controversial topics honestly with other Hispanics their age by calling in or emailing their views directly to one of five host’s personal Terra email address.

Traditionally, young U.S. Hispanics have not had an outlet where they could express their true thoughts and ideas about the world around them. Most popular conversations take place in general market media and are taken from a general standpoint that does not relate directly to Hispanic cultural ideals, morals and beliefs. Hispanic youth are impelled to listen to other perspectives that they often times cannot relate to. And, until recently, the only Spanish-language alternatives were top rated shows produced in Latin America, which do not draw the attention of today’s Hispanic youth.

“Chat is a perfect complement to Terra.com’s content philosophy,” said Manuel Bellod, general manager of Terra.com. “At Terra, we strive to offer fresh, new and culturally relevant programming that U.S. Hispanics can really appreciate.”

Chat is produced by young people for young people. The key to the show is viewer interaction and the unique perspectives that the hosts/producers offer. Each host/producer brings a different Latino background to the show, giving viewers diverse insight into the issues at-hand for Hispanic Americans of Caribbean, Mexican, Central, South and North American descent.

“Terra.com perfectly understands our audience, and are an obvious fit in our strategy to develop interactive programming that truly reflects the experiences and aspirations of young Hispanics,” said Manuel Abud, President of Telemundo Cable. “We are very pleased to have Terra join us, and we look forward to a long and lasting relationship.”

Terra.com and mun2 television also recently co-produced a one-hour special entitled Terra Rock which aired on mun2 in early December. The program was based on Terra’s Rock en Español “Battle of the Bands” recently held in Los Angeles, and featured interviews with up-and-coming bands and footage of the concert series.
