August 19, 2012
Time Warner Cable Deportes announced the details of its comprehensive coverage of the Los Angeles Lakers. The network is the first-ever regional sports network for the Spanish-speaking television audience and it will be the first time that a National Basketball Association (NBA) team will be covered exclusively with original content designed and produced for the Spanish-speaking community.
“Our commitment to Southern California’s Spanish-speaking sports community is deeply important to us,” said Mark Shuken, Senior Vice President and General Manager, TWC Regional Sports Networks. “We will deliver an in-depth and engaging viewing experience that deepens the connection between the Hispanic community and the Lakers.”
“This is the nation’s largest Hispanic market and we are proud to partner with Time Warner Cable Deportes to create the country’s first local Spanish-language sports destination,” said Tim Harris, Senior Vice President of Business Operations for the Los Angeles Lakers. “Time Warner Cable Deportes fulfills a big part of our vision for giving Lakers fans the best local sports experience in the country.”
“The Lakers are a beloved and important part of Southern California’s sports culture and our community has waited a long time to see them in our language,” said Pablo F. Urquiza, Vice President, Time Warner Cable Deportes. “We at Time Warner Cable Deportes feel privileged to be part of the first regional sports network to make this a reality.”
All Lakers games on Time Warner Cable Deportes, home and away, will be produced in Spanish by a dedicated team and called live by play-by-play announcer Adrián García Márquez and analyst Francisco Pinto. Veteran sports host Ricardo Celis will lead in-studio Lakers commentary for the network.
Lakers En Vivo is a live, one-hour pre-game show that will offer extensive analysis and insight covering every angle of the game leading into tipoff. As a sign of Time Warner Cable Deportes’ unprecedented commitment to the Lakers, Lakers en Vivo will air for all Laker games including national broadcasts.
Somos Lakers offers viewers a comprehensive post-game wrap-up after every Lakers game. It will include interviews, player and coach reactions, live analysis, game breakdowns and interactive fan participation segments. Just as with the pre-game show, Somos Lakers will also air for all Laker games including national broadcasts.
Somos Lakers Éne-Bé-A airs on non-game days and will keep viewers engaged all NBA season long. It will update fans with the latest on the Lakers including highlights from around the league, live interviews, commentary and other special segments.
Lakers Compactos will consist of Lakers games condensed into a fast-paced, one-hour format, featuring added sights, sounds, reaction and commentary that weren’t part of the original game telecast.
Partidos Memorables: Lakers will feature classic Lakers games accompanied by Spanish-language commentary. The weekly program will air games from throughout the history of the storied franchise.
