Coverage will be presented live this Saturday, May 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET on Universo, TelemundoDeportes.com and Telemundo Deportes App.

“We are committed to offering a robust sports slate and the most powerful content to the growing and evolving Hispanic community, and we are thrilled to add such a legendary event like the Preakness to our roster,” said Ray Warren, President, Telemundo Deportes.

Telemundo Deportes’ coverage will feature race-announcing veteran Omar Amador and the official Telemundo Deportes race caller Edgar Lopez. The versatile duo will call the race with the support of the network’s sports reporter Sulema Salazar who will be covering the action onsite from the historic Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

Venezuelan jockey Sonny Leon won the 2022 Kentucky Derby on Rich Strike. Leon’s story and his victorious ride will be part of Telemundo Deportes’ coverage this Saturday. Leon joins a long list of Hispanic thoroughbred racing champions and contenders as Latin America has a tradition of professional equestrianism with a strong presence in the sport and across Triple Crown races. Telemundo Deportes’ coverage will draw from the sport’s Latin American ties to connect and engage Hispanic audiences in a meaningful and authentic way.
