Turégano re-appointed as Chairman of American Heart Association – Health Equity Task Force.

Enrique Turégano of alPunto Advertising has been re-appointed as Chairman of the American Heart Association’s Health Equity Task Force for the Western States Affiliates.

This is his second consecutive term as Chairman; he will chair the task force for the 2012-2013 time period.
The Health Equity Task Force is made up of 20 professionals from diverse backgrounds, including health care professionals and nurses, plus staff from the American Heart Association.

“It’s an honor to remain as Chairman of this task force”, explained Turégano, “the work we do is crucial in improving the lives of less advantaged populations and in increasing health equity among all individuals.”
The focus of the efforts this year will be around three topics: blood pressure, obesity and healthy eating/living. Communication will focus on the aspects of awareness and prevention (as an example, cardiovascular diseases are #1 killer of Hispanic women, yet only one in three is aware of this risk).

Last year Turégano spearheaded a radio campaign focusing on the risks and symptoms of stroke; this year the plan is to partner with a TV network to help get the word out about obesity and healthy eating/living. Also in the plans are continued partnerships with retailers such as Curacao, plus increasing the Task Force’s fundraising efforts
