Avail-TVN announced a long-term, industry-wide video-on-demand services deal with VeneMovies, a SOMOSTV 24 hour, commercial free channel that serves the U.S. Hispanic market with top quality Spanish-language content.

“With Latinos in the US spending approximately $19.7 billion on entertainment in 2008 and overall Latino purchasing power expected to hit $1 trillion by 2010, there is a great opportunity to serve the growing demand for quality Spanish-language entertainment,” said Jim Riley, Chief Revenue Officer at Avail-TVN. “Working with VeneMovies On Demand is an important step in building our Spanish-language content offering and delivering a rich and entertaining VOD experience for Latino audiences.”

* La Ley de Herodes with Damian Alcazar and Pedro Armendariz, Jr: This winner of nine Ariel Awards tells the fable of a janitor turned Mayor on a little town lost in the Mexican desert in 1949, who gradually realizes how far his new acquainted power and corruption can get him.
* Soñar no cuesta nada with Diego Cadavid and Manuel Jose Chavez: Based on a true story, this surreal black comedy follows 147 Colombian soldiers who find a treasure they didn’t seek.
* Un rey en la Habana with Alexis Valdes and Jose Tellez: In this comedy, an old rich Spanishman, Mr. Arturo, arrives to Havana to marry Yoli, but suddenly dies in bed. Yoli’s family, afraid of losing all the money, convinces her ex-boyfriend Papito to go to Spain and get the money. Papito will have to be clever enough to deceive everybody and succeed in Spain.
* Iluminados por el fuego with Gaston Pauls and Pablo Ribba: Winner of The Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival Blessed By Fire is the story of two young men sent to fight the 1982 war in the Falkland Islands who return home bearing the brutal scars of war.
* Partes usadas with Eduardo Granados and Alan Chavez: This award-winning film follows Ivan, a 14-year old boy, who lives with his uncle Jaime, a mediocre dealer of used car parts. They both dream of a better life in Chicago and Jaime decides to introduce his nephew into the world of car-part theft.

“VeneMovies” features the best films, brightest stars and biggest box-office hits geared towards Latinos and offered free on demand to the consumer. Coinciding with Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th – October 15th), some of the titles being offered this September include:
