Unipro Group To Launch Latin Grammy Street Parties.

Unipro Group and the Latin Recording Academy announced the launch of the Latin GRAMMY Street Parties, a series of grassroots events featuring unplugged concerts, epicurean delights, and promotional activities in high-traffic Hispanic neighborhoods throughout South Florida. The Latin GRAMMY Street Parties will showcase performances by established and emerging artists, as well as provide an interactive environment where attendees can enjoy music, folklore, arts & crafts, new product demonstrations, and educational presentations. The series of festivals will be held on four consecutive Sundays beginning August 3, and will take place throughout the streets of Homestead, Kendall, Hialeah, and Pompano Beach. A kick-off event will be held on Monday, July 21 to announce the exact locations, dates and participating artists. Admission to the Street Parties will be free. The Latin GRAMMY Street Parties are part of the Road to the Latin GRAMMYs, a four-month-long celebration that will showcase the vibrancy, quality and diversity of the Miami and Latin cultural communities, culminating with the 4th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards on September 3, 2003 at Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena, airing on CBS (9 p.m. ET/PT).

“The Latin GRAMMY Street Parties will bring the Latin GRAMMY experience closer to Hispanic communities while offering marketers an unprecedented opportunity; these events will bring together consumers and marketers through a community-based program with national appeal,” said Unipro Group President & COO Nelson Albareda. We are excited to work with the Latin Recording Academy and sponsors in achieving one goal – bringing communities together through music.”

“The Latin GRAMMYs honor excellence in recorded Latin music, but the Latin Recording Academy has a broader mission to celebrate Hispanic culture and provide educational and outreach programs to Latin communities,” said Latin Recording Academy President Gabriel Abaroa. “The Latin GRAMMY Street Parties present a unique opportunity for us to showcase Miami and South Florida as the premier international gateway of the Americas and of Latin music, while making people dance in the streets as we count down, Miami style!; to the 4th Annual Latin GRAMMY telecast.”

Beginning in 2004, Unipro Group and the Latin Recording Academy plan to bring the Latin GRAMMY Street Parties experience to other top U.S. Hispanic markets, reflecting the diversity and needs of each community.
