Uniradio Group Launches ‘Radio Hispana 1470’ in San Diego.

Uniradio announced the launch of Radio Hispania 1470. Radio Hispana 1470 is a mix of Spanish language talk programs syndicated by Radiovisa and Univision Radio, both national network providers, as well as local shows produced by Radio Hispana. The syndicated programs cover an array of topics such as news, entertainment, education, immigration, politics, sports, sexuality, paranormal and unexplained phenomena, among others. The local shows will cover the impact of these topics on San Diego’s Hispanic Community, including interviews with local and regional news-makers.

Radio Hispana replaces Radio Unica which occupied the 1470 spot on the dial. It will keep the same XERCN call letters.

“We felt there was a genuine need for an interactive communications window that could provide the Hispanic Community with an opportunity to be informed-in their own language and in a timely matter–of the latest local and national breaking news, as well as an opportunity for them to express their opinion on the hottest national and local topics. Radio Hispana 1470 is the answer to this need,” said Ricardo Astiazaran General Manager of Uniradio Corp.

Radio Hispana 1470 will keep the “Doctor Isabel Show,” the most popular program which Radio Unica offered. Doctor Isabel is a noted psychologist and educator recognized as the Hispanic “Doctor Laura,” but with a positive, upbeat approach to solving problems.

Ricardo Vela, producer and anchor of KBNT’s (Univision affiliate in San Diego) afternoon and evening newscasts, has joined Radio Hispana 1470 to produce and conduct a local talk show that will handle the hottest topics of interest for San Diegan’s including interviews with the government, political, social and entrepreneurial leaders of the community.

Radio Hispana will also continue with the successful, “San Diego al Dia” a local radio magazine hosted by Univision’s Liliana Garcia.
