Univision 41 – ‘La Intrusa’ Intrudes On Prime Time In NYC.

‘La Intrusa,’ the prime-time access (weekdays 7 pm to 8 pm) novela on Spanish-language TV station Univision 41 (WXTV), has intruded on the New York Nielsen ratings in a big way. Yesterday, “La Intrusa” which bowed on November 19, 2001, scored a personal best 6.1 Nielsen Station Index (NSI) overnight rating and 9 share to finish second only in the time period to the combination of “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune” on WABC/7. What’s more, that’s the second highest rating for a scheduled program in the history of Univision 41. (The highest rated scheduled program in the history of Univision 41 is the “Carita de Angel” [Little Angel Face] broadcast of November 13, 2001, which scored 6.6/10).

The performance of “La Intrusa” helped propel Univision 41 to a 3.0/7 NSI sign-on to sign-off rating/share yesterday (Monday, Jan. 7, 2002), the fifth highest such score in the station’s history.

“La Intrusa” (The Intruder) is the story of a woman of high moral character who becomes the governess to a wealthy family and later comes into conflict with her charges after she marries their father.

In more good ratings news for Univision 41 yesterday, the station’s 6 pm local newscast, “Noticias 41” with anchors Rafael Pineda and Denisse Oller, scored a 4.4/7 NSI to beat the competing English-language local news on WCBS-TV Channel 2. The latter scored 2.8/5 yesterday. Univision’s network news, “Noticiero Univision” with anchors Jorge Ramos and Maria Elena Salinas, seen 6:30 pm to 7 pm scored 4.9/8 NSI locally yesterday to demolish the “CBS Evening News” with Dan Rather on WCBS/2. The latter scored 4.2/6 NSI.

In other Univision 41 ratings news, yesterday’s episode of “El Gordo y La Flaca” scored 3.4/7 NSI from 4 pm to 5 pm to beat the premiere of the syndicated “Weakest Link” on WCBS/2. The latter scored 1.5/4 to tie its lead-out, the 4:30 pm local news on WCBS/2, as the lowest rated program in the hour on a major station.

Each New York Nielsen Station Index rating point represents 73,010.6 TV households.
