Univision 41 marks Colombian Independence.

Univision 41 (WXTV) in New York celebrated Colombian Independence Day (Sunday, July 23) with festivities in Queens, New York, and Hackensack New Jersey.
Salvador Cruz and Merijoel Duran, the weekend sportscaster and weekday morning anchor of “Noticias Univision 41,” helped celebrate the independence of Colombia from Spanish colonial rule at the Colombian Independence Day Festival at Foschini Park, Camden & River Streets, Hackensack, New Jersey, from 11 am to 6 pm.
And Jack Rico and Nilda Rosario, the weekday weather reporters of the morning and evening broadcasts of “Noticias Univision 41” (respectively) wwere in the Colombian Parade of New York, beginning at 11 am. The parade winds along Northern Blvd. in Queens from 69th Street to 90th Street.
Cruz and Duran were joined Hackensack by “Los Solecitos,” the animated “little suns” who grace the weather forecasts on Univision’s breakfast news program, “Despierta America” (Wake Up, America) weekdays from 7 am to 10 am. Cruz, who is seen Saturdays and Sundays at 6 pm and 11 pm on “Noticias Univision 41,” and Duran who is the anchor from 5 am to 7 am weekdays, will be “Special Guest” and “International Godmother” of the festival, respectively. Duran recently won an Emmy in the category, “Outstanding Multi-Part Hard News Story.”
In Queens, Rosario was the “International Godmother” and Rico is billed as “Ambassador of Culture.”
