Univision Deportes acquires right to European Soccer Teams.

Univision Deportes announced it will become the U.S. Hispanic home of the German National Team (Deutscher Fußball-Bund) and the DFB Cup, the French National Team (Federation Française de Football) and the French Cup, and France’s Ligue 1. The multi-year deals are exclusive in Spanish across multiple media platforms. 
 
“The acquisition of these important European national team matches, league tournaments and first division French league matches serve as a perfect complement to our already robust soccer portfolio from the America’s,” said Juan Carlos Rodriguez, president of Univision Deportes. “These acquisitions solidify our commitment to remain the undisputed home for Hispanic sports fans.”
 
The deals will grant Univision Deportes media rights to all qualifiers played in Germany and France in the lead to 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, the most anticipated being France vs. Spain in March 2013. Additionally, the agreements include the home friendly matches of the German and French National Teams, which includes matches against some of the most successful national teams in the world, including Argentina, Italy, England and the Netherlands.
 
Univision Deportes will also showcase matches of the DFB Cup (DFB Pokal), featuring 2012 UEFA Champions League finalists Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart and SV Werder Bremen, and matches of the French Cup (Coupe du France), featuring stellar teams such as Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais, Montpellier HSC and Olympique de Marseille. Univision Deportes will also provide coverage of various matches from France’s Ligue 1, including of the AC Ajaccio team, which features Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.
 
These acquisitions will fill Univision Deportes Network’s programming schedule with a week full of soccer matches, including National Team matches on Tuesdays, Friday and Saturdays; Cup matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; and Ligue 1 on Saturdays and Sundays.
