Univision Deportes announces the launch of “For the Love of the Game” search

Univision Communications Inc. announced a nationwide search for every day heroes who harness the power of sports to serve and improve their communities and the lives of the people that live in them.  The search is part of the recently announced Premios Univision Deportes (Univision Sports Award), the ultimate sport award show for U.S. Hispanics.  The winner of the search will receive the “For the Love of the Game” award which consists of a $25,000 cash prize to recognize their efforts and an all-expense paid trip to attend the Premios Univision Deportes Gala in Miami where the winner will spend the evening with some of the world’s most renowned athletes.
 
“Beyond paying tribute to the athletes and sports professionals that our fans admire for their performance on the field, we are committed to having a direct impact on our community and recognizing community heroes who contribute to it and make a difference,” said Juan Carlos Rodríguez, president of Univision Deportes, the sports division of Univision Communications Inc. “With this recognition and award, we aim to continue encouraging commitment to serve our community.”
 
Anyone can nominate candidates by sending an email to pr*************@tv.com with a video or essay describing the nominees work to improve their community using sports.  Nominations must be received by Sunday, November 23 and will be reviewed by the Premios Univision Deportes sports committee.  For more details and complete rules and instructions to participate, visit univisiondeportes.com.
 
Finalists will be announced Sunday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT/8 a.m. PT on “República Deportiva” on the Univision Network, with simulcast on UDN (Univision Deportes Network) at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT/8 a.m. PT.
 
The winner will be announced during the broadcast of Premios Univision Deportes on Thursday, Dec.18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT (8 p.m. CT) on UniMás, with simulcast on UDN.
