Univision enters license agreement with MDI Entertainment.

Univision Enterprises LLC, a division of Univision Communications Inc., announced an agreement with MDI Entertainment, LLC, a subsidiary of Scientific Games Corporation, to exclusively license its popular television programs for lottery games across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Effective immediately, the licensing agreement extends to instant scratch, pull-tab, terminal-based, monitor and Internet-based lottery games.

“This agreement with MDI offers us another opportunity to expand Univision’s incredible portfolio of brands in ways that are relevant to today’s consumers,” said Francisco Arenas, vice president, Consumer Products, Univision Communications Inc. “We look forward to working closely with MDI to create engaging games that maintain our already deep relationship with Hispanics.”

“We’re extremely pleased to be working with Univision to create lottery games that will appeal to Hispanic players,” said Steve Saferin, president, Properties Group and Chief Creative Officer for Scientific Games. “MDI is committed to serving this important and growing demographic, and our agreement with Univision will play a vital role in our efforts.”

The agreement gives MDI rights to manufacture licensed lottery games featuring Univision and Televisa owned brands such as the reality beauty competition “Nuestra Belleza Latina” (Our Latin Beauty), the celebrity dance competition “¡Mira Quién Baila!” (Look Who’s Dancing!), the sports entertainment program “Republica Deportiva” (Sports Republic), Univision novelas, plus “El Chapulin Colorado,” one of the most popular and iconic television shows among Latinos across the U.S. and Latin America. Other Univision brands may be added to the agreement at a later date.
