Univision February 2005 Sweeps Gains In LA.

Univision flagship station KMEX-TV/Channel 34 posted tremendous primetime ratings increases in the just concluded February 2005 Sweeps, according to Nielsen’s NHSI Hispanic ratings for Los Angeles. In a market of six Spanish-language broadcasters, KMEX-TV continues to be the undisputed ratings leader in virtually all dayparts and among all demographics.

Highlights from the February 2005 NHSI survey (February 3rd to March 2nd) include the following:

The average demographic ratings for KMEX-TV in primetime soared 49% from February 2004. KMEX-TV averaged a 13.0 rating among Adults 18-49 for its primetime line-up (Monday to Sunday, 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) in the February 2005 Sweeps, an increase of 49% from its average 8.7 rating in February 2004. KFTR-TV ranked second with a 3.2 rating, up 7% from a 3.0, followed by KVEA-TV (3.0/-29% from 4.2), KWHY-TV (2.4/-4% from 2.5), KRCA-TV (1.0/+11% from 0.9), and KAZA-TV (0.8/-20% from 1.0).

TeleFutura’s early fringe novela, “Amy, La Nina de la Mochila Azul,” in the 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. slot, scored a 4.7 rating on KFTR-TV among Adults 18-49 (an increase of 47% from its February 2004 time period average) — double the average ratings for Telemundo’s primetime novelas in Los Angeles, including “Anita, no te Rajes” (2.4 rating; down 59% from February 2004) “La Mujer en el Espejo” (2.6/-54%), “Gitanas” (2.8/-33%), and “Te Voy a Enseñar a Querer” (1.8/-36%).
