Univision KMEX-TV Wins 3rd Best Live Special Event Emmy.

The Los Angeles area Emmy Awards organized by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS) recently awarded Los Angeles television station KMEX-TV 34 the Best Live Special Event Emmy for the third consecutive year for its live coverage of the 2002 Tournament of Roses. The winners were announced on Saturday, September 6th at the Academy’s Leonard H. Goldenson Theater in North Hollywood. The station received its first Best Live Special Event Emmy in 2000 for its 1999 Rose Parade broadcast.

KMEX-TV’s 2002 Rose Parade Broadcast was televised nationally on the Univision Network, capturing all the splendor and flamboyance of the event without commercial interruptions. The station’s 2002 New Year’s Day production included commentary by Univision national morning show host Ana Maria Canseco, local news anchor Rolando Nichols and world renown Rose Parade float designer, Raul Rodriguez. The executive producer for the project was Richard Blanco with Beatriz Gomez serving as Associate Producer, Von Gorman and Pablo Urquiza as Producers, and Eduardo Kachscovsky as Producer/Director.
KMEX-TV competed head-to-head with KTLA’s Tournament of Roses broadcast in this category.
